چکیده

U.S. Government work not protected by U.S. copyright Abstract – In this paper we describe key aspects of the conceptual design of the microwave interrogation structure in the laser-cooled cesium frequency standard that is part of the Primary Atomic Reference Clock in Space (PARCS) experiment. The PARCS standard uses balls of cold atoms launched in a pulsed beam configuration. The microwave interrogation will take place in two independent high-Q (~20,000) cavities operated in the TE011 mode. The cavities will be operated off resonance by several linewidths, with a resonant coupling structure delivering the microwave to the two cavities. One persistent problem related to the end-to-end phase shift has been the extreme temperature sensitivity of the phase of inside the cavities to that just outside the cavities. The end-to-end phase shift must ultimately be known to around 3 microradians, and stable long enough to allow measurement of the shift as well as to allow normal clock operation. Operating the cavities off resonance reduces this sensitivity more strongly than reducing the cavity Q.

Design, Fabrication and Measurement of Two-Layered Quadruple-Band Microwave Metamaterial Absorber

The design, simulation, fabrication, and measurement of two structures of metamaterial absorbers (MA) is investigated at microwave frequency in this paper. By stacking of one layer structure on the top of each other, a two-layered structure is generated. The unit cell at each layer consisting of two sets of various circular and square patches are designed so that the structure exhibit quad band...

Microwave Wire Interrogation Method Mapping Pressure under High Temperatures

It is widely accepted that wireless reading for in-situ mapping of pressure under high-temperature environments is the most feasible method, because it is not subject to frequent heterogeneous jointing failures and electrical conduction deteriorating, or even disappearing, under heat load. However, in this article, we successfully demonstrate an in-situ pressure sensor with wire interrogation f...

Concept design of Vehicle Structure for the purpose of computing torsional and bending stiffness

Automotive design engineers face the challenging problem of developing products in highly competitive markets. In this regard, using conceptual models in the first step of automotive development seems so necessary. In this paper, to make a body in white conceptual model, an engineering approach is developed for the replacement of beam-like structures, joints, and panels in a vehicle model. The ...

Superconducting Microstrip-Fed Antenna Coupled to a Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector

A proper antenna to couple to a microstrip Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID) is designed and simulated. A twin-slot microstrip-fed inline antenna is designed for frequency band of 600-720~GHz integrated with an elliptical lens and coupled to the MKID. A systematic design procedure for design of such antenna with microstrip inline feeding is presented. Whole structure of lens and twin...
